Custom Navigation

Custom Navigation

This function works along with the Previous and Next arrows on the page. In order to use this feature, it must first be selected in the Subsite Options, Public Site Preferences. (Managing SubSite Options)

The natural flow of the sub-site is to proceed from one public-viewable page to the next public-viewable page. However, there may be instances when additonal pages are in a folder but not part of the actual course path; the user has reached the end of a folder and should be directed back to the main menu instead of the next available page; or the navigation arrows need to be disabled.

The Content Editor may use the Custom Navigation Links to set the path to the next appropriate page.

To set the Custom Previous Link:

  • Select the "Browse" link under "Custom Previous Link" in the Page Options section.
  • A pop-up window is displayed with links to the pages in this folder. Navigate to the page you want the back arrow to be directed. To move out of this folder, select the "Up One Level" link.
  • Once the page is located, select it by clicking on the "Filename" link.

The pop-up window closes and the address is entered automatically into the field under "Custom Previous Link".

  • The final step is to select the "Set Page Options" button at the bottom of the Page Options section.

To disable the Previous Link:

  • Select the checkbox "Disable Previous Link" in the Page Options section.
  • Select "Set Page Options" button at the bottom of the Page Options section.

The Previous arrow will no longer be displayed on this page.

  • Once the page is located, select it by clicking on the "Filename" link.
